Our Termites Treatment Plan

Identify The Type of Termite Infestation

South Carolina is home to 7 species of termites and an 8th invasive species has been sighted with increasing frequency over the past several years. Our Master Trained Termite Technicians will identify which type of termite you’re experiencing and assess the severity of the infestation.

9

Termite Extermination Process

Depending on the type of termite infestation present, the treatment method may vary. However, the effect is always the same: complete eradication of termites within your house. This process may take the form of a termiticide applied via fumigation or termite bait traps and our technician will explain to you what your specific treatment will require.

9

Termite Damage Remediation

If a termite infestation is caught early the damage may be minor enough the damage they caused is minimal. However, some termites, like the invasive Formosan termite, can cause significant structural damage within months of infestation. In these cases we may refer you to framing specialists who can assist with repairs.

Future Termite Control

The best way to handle termites is to prevent infestations before they start. The final step of any termite extermination process is to set advanced bait stations which kill any lingering termites.

After treatment it is essential to enroll in a termite monitoring and prevention plan. Without annual termite inspections and long-term monitoring, termites will inevitably return.

Frequently Asked Questions

Rodent removal Columbia SC
What types of termites are most common in South Carolina?

Termites are broadly categorized into three groups: subterranean termites, drywood termites, and dampwood termites. South Carolina homes are most commonly threatened by drywood termites and by subterranean termites.

Recently, the invasive Formosan termites have been spotted with more frequency in our state. These are a subterranean variety which infiltrate your home through cracks in your foundation or mud tubes they build along the side of your home, and are known for rapidly causing significant damage due to their large colony size and voracious appetites.

Why do termites infest houses?

Some common pests are in your house for the same reason as you: it’s a nice place to live! Termites on the other hand see your house as a nice thing to eat. Termites eat and digest cellulose, the structural component of wood.

While dampwood and drywood termites live inside the wood they’re eating, subterranean termite colonies are located underground and can live hundreds of feet from their feeding grounds!

What is the best DIY solution for a termite infestation?

Unfortunately do-it-yourself termite solutions are difficult to recommend for several reasons. The most effective pesticides require proper identification of the termite – using the wrong pesticide may prolong your infestation and increase the damage done.

Further, proper use of pesticides requires extensive safety training that most homeowners lack, putting themselves, their family, and the environment at risk.

Finally, there are several classes of pesticides only available to specialists who have undertaken the training necessary to access them. We are Sentricon certified and have our 7A certification, allowing us to use chemicals that the EPA does not allow to be sold to general consumers.
